It seems that this year has flown right by. I am flying through my WIP's almost as quick. I actually started a couple of new ones this week also.

My first completed WIP was a table runner that I was testing for Katchkan over at Simply Crochet. I love her patterns because (a) they are very well written and (b) they are simple for those of us whom are thread challenged. I made this particular one for my end table. It's going to look great there (after the holidays and all the Christmas stuff is put up for another year).

I have also made a couple of doilies. I have tried 2 Patricia Kristoffersen mini doilies. I stuck with using size 3 thread with these. I haven't gotten brave enough to try using size 10 thread yet. Although I did buy some size 10 thread to make a larger one of her doilies. That one might have to wait until after the first of the year.

I received my Holiday gift swap box from my partner over at the 'Ville. My partner for this swap was Nikki (sfgwife). She is amazing and I can't believe her generosity. She made me a pair of socks, slippers, hat and mittens. How cool is that. The amazing this is that I had already made myself a scarf with the exact same yarn. So now I have a matching set.

She also sent me some Santa ornaments. I absolutely adore anything Santa. There are now 4 of them (which are Santa thimbles) which will sit on my shelf all year long.

She also sent me some Chocolate and Coffee. My two favorite things. Those alone will help me through the freezing temperatures we are having right now.

Well~~I really must run. I am still sorting Christmas presents to make sure that no one gets missed. Maybe I will try to wrap them in the near future. LOL

Enjoy and have a blessed day!!

More Wips off the list

I have had a great Thanksgiving weekend. First of all, hubby and I were actually off for 4 days together. This does not happen all that often. So for that I am thankful.

I was also able to get quite a bit of crocheting done. I finished another seraphina shawl. The one with the rounded bottom instead of the pointed one. I like the look of the rounded. I think it looks a bit more femimine.

I was also able to finish an afghan that my mother started. She made the squares and then got frustrated with the joining. So I did the joining for her. It wasn't too bad and the afghan came out beautifully.

I was going through my cedar chest looking for some of my Christmas stuff and came across this afghan. It is the first afghan that I ever made. I am guessing that I made it about 20 years ago. This afghan is the reason that I do not like ripple afghans to this day. I am also trying to figure out what I was thinking with these colors. Anyway this was made for my grandmother who was going through Chemotherapy at the time. She loved it. When she passed I got it back and have kept it put up. I am now using it again. I can't justify leaving it in the cedar chest when it is perfectly fine to use.

I also finished a baby ghan that I am testing for Lisa at Crochet Garden (but can't post a pic of that one until she releases it).

I think that is about it for now

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.

Enjoy and have a blessed day!

Autumn Cables Carpet Bag--tested

Here is a purse that I tested for Anna over at Lullabiesandlacecrochet.com. You should really check out her site. She has some amazing designs and patterns over there. The one thing that I love about her purse designs are that the lining is crocheted in. This is great as I don't sew. I tested this for her. The red one is the full size one and the green one was made by cutting the pattern in half. I really like the way these purses came out. My babysitter made off with the red one and my mon took the green one. I guess I am going to have to make me another one.

What kind of Coffee I am

You Are an Espresso

At your best, you are: straight shooting, ambitious, and energetic
At your worst, you are: anxious and high strung
You drink coffee when: anytime you're not sleeping
Your caffeine addiction level: high

<a href="<a">What Kind of Coffee Are You?

Another one off the list

I finished my seraphina shawl. I had this on my to do list for quite a while, and even joined a shawl CAL at the 'Mania with hopes that I would pick some yarn and make it. Needless to say, this just didn't get done. I was looking for the right yarn. I finally found the right yarn last week. I decided to make this shawl in Patons SWS yarn. I chose the Natural Earth color figuring that it would work with most of my dress clothes. I then debated using the SWS yarn as I will have to handwash and hang to dry it or it will end up fitting my daughter's Barbie. I fell in love with the yarn and the color and said to heck with it and 3 days later I was finished. It turned out beautiful. I can't wait to wear it to work tomorrow. The pattern is very easy once you get your sequencing rows down and then I flew through the pattern.

Off to make another one as a holiday gift.

Enjoy and have a blessed day!!

Another WIP

I joined a CAL at both the 'Ville and 'Mania. It's The Dude's Monet Afghan. I have Sonia to thank for me starting another project. I am making this for my daughter. I chose to make her afghan in purples instead of her requested pink. I can only have so much pink in her room (no matter how much she pleads.) I have no idea how many I actually have going on right now but I will finish them all. I love this time of year. It's getting cold and I can stand to work on afghans. I also ordered more yarn. Not like I really needed it but I got it at a price that I couldn't pass up. I ordered twice the amount I needed so maybe I will have enough to whip up some Christmas presents.

Just a side note--I am still sick and went to the doctor again and they aren't sure what is wrong with me but hoping that I am on the tail end of it. LOL.

I have joined another CAL over at the 'Ville. Sonia has started a CAL for Drew's Monet afghan. This pattern has been on my to do list for awhile now so why not. I have 24 of the squares finished and joined and just really do not like the way it is turning out. So I am going to tear out the joining and start again with a different joining method. I love the color variation and I think I have chosen a new joining method but will have to wait until I feel good enough to treck to get more yarn.

I started another round ripple afghan. I bought some TLC essential yarn in chocolate and surf and turf varigated. I love the way it is turning out. And this is one of my favorite patterns since they work up so quickly.

I am still testing a dish soap dress for Anna over at Lullabies and Lace but have had to put it on hold until I am over my bronchitis. I made Alicia her shawl and skipping stone afghan. I figured if she deserved them for her birthday aftering wading through the last 23 years as my best friend.

Now I have decided (and bought the yarn) to start 2 new afghans. It's finally cooling off to where I can work on the bigger projects. Earlier this year I bought The Dude's Flying Afghan and decided to hold off on making it until this fall. Well, last week Fall arrived. This afghan is made up of 28 squares. I have 10 of the smaller squares made. Not bad for a week's effort. On this afghan I decided against using the recommended yarn, which was Lion Brand Wool Ease Chunky. Couldn't justify the cost. So I tried to match, as close as I could, to RH colors. I know it won't be the same but I can make 3 or 4 afghans this winter for the price of one. Eventually I do want to make this afghan with the recommended yarn. Maybe if I buy the yarn 1 color at a time over a period of time.

Now about the 2nd afghan--I was browsing through the crochet boards and someone had made the Coats and Clark Sunrise Sunset afghan. I had bookemarked this earlier this summer also. Last night I decided that I was going to run by HL and pick up the yarn. I had decided that chocolate brown and a latte brown would look great in my living room. Wouldn't you know that HL did not have 5 skeins of TLC in a single color. This is my big frustration. I feel that I should be able to buy 5 skeins of any given yarn in the same color. Obviously, HL does not agree. So I had to change the color scheme of my afghan and use RH. I picked a very pretty burgany and light rose. Not sure where this afghan will go when I am finished but pretty sure that I will be able to find it a home.

I will leave you with a pic of the first 2 squares of the sunrise sunset afghan. It is going to be beautiful. I am thinking about joining it with a varigated with both colors in it. What is your opinion?

Enjoy and have a blessed day!!

Skipping Stone Afghan

I joined a crochet along over at Crochetville. Here's my version of the skipping stone afghan. I made it with TLC Luster Coral Rose. This was some of the yarn that I bought on sale at Mary Maxim. This yarn is awesome. It's soft and great to work with.

So by finishing this afghan I finally made an afghan for my best friend Alicia. For some reason, after 22 years I have never made her an afghan. I think that part of it stes from the fact that she LOVES pink. For those who know me know that I am not a big pink fan. I have tried on numerous occasions and have stopped because I can't stand pink.

Well since the skipping stone afghan worked up so quick, I finished it in 3 evenings, Alicia now has her afghan.

Well--I'm off to bed for the night. We have been friends since 5th grade. I was talking with my husband last night about Alicia turning 33 and it dawned on me that we have been friends for 22 years. Now in those 22 years I have seen our friendship change and evolve. I can say anything to her and know that she doesn't judge what I have said. And the same can be said about her to me.

Alicia is the sister I never had. She is always there for me, good or bad. She can tell me that she is having a bad day and doesn't feel like talking and it is ok with me. I can go for days without talking to her until she decides that she is ready to share whatever it is that she wants to talk about.

She is also my children's godmother and is amazing with them. I am still in awe of her and the way that she has with her godchildren, niece's and nephew's and grandchildren. But, I guess that is a perk that she gets since shehas no children of her own and she gets to spoil them and then send them home.

Well--I'm off to call and wish her a Happy Birthday!!

Enjoy and have a blessed day!!

Switching ISP's--Rant ahead

Ok--I have now spent well over a week switching internet providers. I previously had DSL. I never had a problem with the DSL but I did have a problem with the DSL provider. When I got my phone bill last month I wondered why it had jumped $40. We don't use long distance on our house phone so I was curious as to what made the bill jump. Well--apparantly our contract was up and we were only locked in to the price for 12 months. No problem--I was calling the phone company to renew our contracts. Well--here comes the problem--I called the phone company and the customer service rep was not so friendly. I asked about the current promotions and if we could get to backdated to cover last month. She said that since I was an established customer my price would be $44.99 per month plus $4.95 for the laptop. I specifically asked about their current promotion which is $12.99 a month for 12 months. Again--I was an established customer (who has had DSL with them for over 4 years) and was told that I wasn't eligible. Enough said. I told her that I would think about the offer and get back with her if and when I wanted to extend my contract with them. I then called our cable company and inquired about their broadband service. Well come to find out--for both my desktop and laptop it will cost me an additional $19.99 per month. I also asked if they notified you when your contract expiried--they do--and they also offer the self renewing automatic option which automatically renews each month (after the initial 15 month contract) at the contract price. This was sounding good so far. I asked them about the modem and network card (which I had to purchase with the phone company) they said that they provide these and if anything ever happens--I call and they replace with no charge to me. So I decided to switch over to the broadband and they installed last weekend. We immediately had a problem with the laptop not getting a signal so they are coming back out to fix that Sunday afternoon (first opportunity that I will be home).

So I called the phone company back to cancel and they gave me such a hardtime that I was cancelling my service. It seems now that I am eligible for the $12.99 and new modem and network card and 3 free months of service. Now my question is why to I have to call and cancel to get these offers but when I just want to renew it's not possible. Needless to say--I cancelled the DSL.

Now--I LOVE the broadband. I didn't realize how much difference that there really is between the DSL and broadband. I point, click and am there. No more thinking. Now I just have to get everything moved and copied. I forwarded everything from DSL to my Gmail account and now need to organize between the Roadrunner account and what I want to burn to CDs.

Sorry for that rant but I needed to get it off my chest. Hopefully, this will be the end of it.

Enjoy and have a blessed day!!

September 19th

Well--I just noticed that I haven't posted since Labor Day weekend. I've been in a funk and not really posting anywhere. I thought I would take a break from the blog and the boards for awhile. And---it has helped. I am back to crocheting and posting again.

On a different topic. We now have broadband internet. I love it!! I really didn't think that there could be that much of a difference between DSL and broadband. Boy was I wrong. Now I point and click and I am there.

I finished testing 2 scarves for Lisa and a purse for Anna. I will post pics once those patterns are launched. Anna did a hide and seek game on her blog the other night and I won!! YAY!! I had my choice between getting first dibs on testing a new pattern or a free pattern. Now that decision was tough. I love testing patterns for both Lisa and Anna--but--I had to pick the free pattern. So as soon as she launches the pattern I picked I get the pattern. It's of course for a purse. I can't wait. A girl just can't have too many purses. (I don't care what my hubby says :))

Well--not much else going on around here. I finished up and mailed my tea pot cosy swap and took on another square a month swap. I got the square swap caught up (May through September) over the last 2 weekends. I am thinking that I am going to do some crocheting for myself for a couple of weeks. Can't remember the last time I did that.

I also can't wait. The Christmas secret pal swap is getting ready to start over at the Mania. Have I mentioned that Christmas is my FAVORITE time of year. I can't wait to have a reason to buy more Christmas stuff...YAY!!

Well---off to bed now.
Enjoy and have a blessed day!

Labor Day Weekend

I always love Labor Day Weekend. For starters, because it was the weekend that my husband and I started dating. So we celebrate our anniversary by going to SantiCaliGon days in Independence Missouri. SantiCaliGon Days is a big craft festival with concerts and a carnivale. Well we went on Friday afternoon and I bought some very cool stuff. I bought 25 wooden roses (for an arrangement in a vase that we got for our wedding that I just haven't done anything with yet), a very cool new yarn tote that was made by locker hooking, and some new charms for my bracelet. My best friend went with me and she got me a Apple pie terra cotta warmer (you put it in your oven with potpourri to make your house smell good).

I also got my Allison purse done and felted. I used some Caron Felt It yarn and changed up the strap more to Nicole's specs. She really likes the flat strap.

I have also finished testing a scarf for Etaria. I have started on the second one. I also got my son's camo yarn in and started his afghan. I am thinking that this will take me some time to get it finished but work on it a little bit each day then I will eventually finish it.

Well all---it's late and I need to get to bed. Will blog more later.

Enjoy and have a blessed day!!

150 Things

I copied this from The Crochet Dude's blog.

Here are my answers:

01. Things sure have been busy around here. We finally got our new AC and furnance installed last Tuesday and Wednesday. So that means it's been much more comfortable in our house. I have crocheted quite a bit over the last week. Last Sunday I sat down and crocheted 3 Christmas ornaments for my swap over at Mania. I also have been testing for Etaria at www.crochetgarden.com. I tested these mittens and lacy t-shirts for her. They are both wonderful patterns and work up wonderfully. I love Etaria's designs. She has such unique ways to achieve such a distinct look. All I can say is that if youhaven't been to her site it really is worth the trip. I also have made 4 12" squares over the last week for various swaps and comfortghans.

Well on the stash front---I ordered 70 skeins of yarn this week. I really couldn't pass up the sale. I am sure that I can find something to do with all of it. LOL. Can you ever have too much yarn??? I didn't think so.

Well--back to crocheting.

Enjoy and have a blessed day!

Very Happy!!!!!

Yesterday evening I came home to 2 big surprises. First I received a package from my secret pal. It was filled with a wonderful smelling vanilla candle, the Mary Kay Satin Hands lotion, and a ton of Hello Kitty bandaids (that my daughter snagged and hid :).) So a big thank you to my secret pal!!!!!!! I also got my Christmas present from my mother. And yes....I know it's only August. She got me a 6 hook set and case from TOTC. They are beautiful!!!! I can't wait to use them.

On another front I have my summer purse swap done and am taking it to the post office here in a bit. I am almost done with my Autumn purse swap too. I am going to start on my Christmas ornament swap this weekend too. I am also going to look for the yarn for the teapot cozy swap. Have I mentioned that I love swaps!! It is so great to make something for someone and then get the same thing from your partner.

Anyway---it's Saturday which means cleaning day!! YAY!!

Enjoy and have a blessed day!!

Secret Pals

I just wanted to say thank you to my secret pal over at the 'Ville. My partner was Jackie. She sent me the most beautiful bookmarks. They are simply gorgeous. I think my favorite is the butterfly. These bookmarks are amazing. I love these swaps. I love the suprises in the mail!!

I tested another pattern for Lisa over at CrochetGarden. This time was mittens. They are wonderful. I'm going to have to buy the matching patterns for the scarves and hats.

Speaking of swaps--I joined 3 more over at the 'Ville. I joined the Autumn purse swap, tea cosy swap and Autumn secret pals. I've not done a secret pal swap before but I can't wait to spoil my pal. I also finished up a mystery crochet along from Crochet Happy, and I finished up my summer purse swap for Mania.

I had to laugh the other day when I got my Autumn purse partner assignment. It's Barb. She was also my summer purse and Kit Mitts partner. LOL. I'm sure she will be tired of me by the time this is over. BUT....I have a couple of surprises for her.....The first she will see in about 1-2 weeks. Will tell the rest of you once she receives it.

I am now back on track with the crocheting. I am making myself put one round on my spiral afghan per day. 1 round isn't alot but it will make me work on it and finish it one of these days. I really am about 3/4 of the way done with it.

I also started another comfortghan for a friend of mine. She has been going through a rough time lately and I thought she could use the pick me up of a comfortghan. I should be able to knock this afghan out by this weekend.....I hope.

Well....the heating and cooling guy came out and quoted me on the new unit. Well come to find out I also have to have all new duct work and have 3 new vents put in. That took some doing to figure out where to put them. The mandatory one was in my bedroom. Can't ever have my bedroom too cold. LOL. Well they will be here next week to start the install and it's a 2 day job.....and those 2 days will be without AC. I am taking the kids and animals to my mom's. Who am I kidding---Jason and I are going too.

And the best news of the day................school starts next Monday for Cole. He can't wait. He misses his friends and the ability to socialize (he will be in 4th grade). That also means only 3 weeks until Maddy starts Pre-Kindergarten. I can't believe that my baby will be in Pre-Kindergarten. That means that this time next year I will be getting her ready to start school. Wow....seems like just yesterday I brought her home from the hospital. Time really does fly.

Well--back to crocheting....
Enjoy and have a blessed day!!

Thursday

Here is a pic of a doily that a friend of mine made me. She did a beautiful job on it and it will proudly sit in the middle of my kitchen table. I got the coffee cup planter at Gordman's the other day. I am going to plant a new start from one of the plants that I got from my dad's funeral. I think it will look great when I get the plant in it.

This other pic is from the Summer purse swap over at 'Mania. Barb was my partner and here's a big thank you for the 2 purses, crochet cotton, and awsome tea. I had never tried and Chai tea before but after one cuppa I am totally hooked. So thanks again Barb.

Speaking of purse swaps and Barb. I signed up for the Fall purse swap over at the 'Ville and Barb and I are partners again. That's too funny. I'm thinking that I will make her a tote bag this time.

Well--I really have been crocheting but I have been testing for Anna over at Lullabies and Lace and Lisa at Crochet Garden......so until they launch their patterns I'm not posting the pics. But I can say that both projects are adorable.

Well this is enough for tonight. I will be MIA part of this weekend as we are going camping. I have been having camping withdrawls and need to get away for a night or two. We are taking the kids to the observatory on Saturday night and I'm not sure who is more excited--me or them. I love telescopes and star watching. Hopefully the kids will like it too. We are also taking them to see cowboy reinactments on Saturday afternoon. Cole will love it. Hopefully Maddy will enjoy it also. Will take pics and post when we get back.

So until next time--
Enjoy and have a blessed day!!

Monday

I am a bad blogger. I will add the pic later. First, I love this square--it's the dreamcatcher--and I wasn't sure about the colors I pick but I love the way it turned out. In fact, I am going to have to make me one of these--one of these days.

Went to Joann's today to get some more varigated for the comfortghan and ended up getting 6 skeins of firework chenille for $1 a skein and 2 balls of thread for $1 a piece. Score. I just love sales.

My cousin Cassey and her daughter Kayley came to visit today. I love when they come to visit us. Kayley is 6 and right in between Cole and Maddy. They get along so well. We had a great visit and we went out to dinner. It's been quite awhile since we have been able to do that. A little background on Cassey. I am an only child so Cassey and I have been as close as sisters and I truly consider her my sister. I am truly greatful to have this friendship and relationship with her.

I am off to finish the bonnet I am testing for Anna over at Lullabies and Lace.

Enjoy and have a blessed day!!

Some more finished projects

Here is a pic of the Kit Mitts swap over at Mania. My partner should have received her puffy by now so hopefully it is safe to post this pic (Barb--I'm sorry to ruin the surprise if you haven't gotten your puffy yet). I really enjoy making kitchen stuff. My swap partner was very easy to crochet for since her only request was for varigated yarn. I found three different colors that I liked (and thought she would too). The two angels in the front are dishcloth with dish scrubbies and the three in the back are double thickness pot holders.

Well--I had my root canal yesterday. That was so much fun (read--NOT). I am at work today but in alot of pain and can't open my mouth far enough to eat.

On to better news. I now have 2 12" squares done for the comfortghan I'm doing. I am planning on kicking this into high gear and getting it done over the weekend. I am going to use Drew's Dude assembly. I really like the way it looks.

Well--headed out for now.

Enjoy and have a blessed Day!

Birthday Present

This is a shawl that I made for my mother on her birthday. I made it with Lion Brand Suade and the pattern from the wrapper. Very quick and very easy. It took 2 skeins of yarn.

This week so far has been a blur and today is looking like it too will follow suit. This afternoon my mother and I are going to the Hospice that took care of my father. Today marks one year since he passed and we both want to make a donation so they know how special there were. And how much they helped him and us during that truly difficult time.

Then---I get to go to the dentist and have a root canal done. You have no idea how excited I am to get this done (read--NOT). But I guess it will make the pain better. Honestly--It had better make the pain disappear.

On to my newest WIP--I am making a comfortghan for a dear friend. She is in need of 3 and only has enough squares to complete one. Since this friend is truly a special person I am making one to send to her. Since there are only 12 12" squares it shouldn't take too long and I will hopefully get it done and in the mail by next week. I wouldn't do this for just anyone but my friend has such a good heart and giving spirit I had too. I feel truly blessed to be called a friend by her as well (You know who you are). I also have another friend who jumped in and is making the other comfortghan. This lady is also very special to me in the same ways. She is also very giving and has a good (but onery) heart.

Well--off to the post office for this weeks mailings.

Enjoy and have a blessed day!

Monday

I am posting my new scarf that I made last night. I love the ribbon yarn that I made it with. I bought the yarn from Kathy's etsy shop--http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=18626. She has some amazing yarns. I have more that I am going to play with tonight to see what elase I can come up with.

I am still making Christmas presents and my list seems to keep getting longer and longer. I'm not worried though. I'll make it happen. The one of the potholder that I tested for a friend and the other is a dishtowel that was a crochet along over at Crochet Happy. Since we just remodeled our kitchen I needed some new ones that matched anyway.

I am very happy that I was able to get one of my bookmarks completed last night...so only 4 more to go. I plan to have this one wrapped up over the weekend. I am also planning to try to finish up some more squares for that swap. Both of these swaps are over at CrochetMania. I just love that board. Everyone is so nice and cheerful.

So that's it for today!!

Enjoy and have a blessed day!

RAOK

This is a pic of what I made for my mother for mother's day. It is a crochet caddy and I threw in some stitch markers so that I can reclaim mine. LOL!!

Today was another hot day. Heat index was 120 degrees. On a brighter note---I got a Raok from Crochetmania. I got a teapot picture frame and a pendant yarn cutter. YAY....I've been wanting a one. I also got my May square from a 'mania swap. I also got the mystery box--which is full of all kinds of cool stuff. Decisions on what to pick and what to replace.

Well it's late so it will be a short post tonight.

Enjoy and have a blessed day!

Swaps

It seems that I am addicted to swaps. This pic is what my swap partner sent me. This was from the kitchen and bath swap over at the 'ville. She spoiled me terribly. I have just finished another one at Crochetville. I have 4 at Crochetmania also. I just like to crochet and come home to stuff that others have made for me.

Anyway, today was a scortcher. At 3 pm my car thermometer said it was a 109. I'm sure it is off a little bit but really. When it's that hot does a couple of degrees really matter?

I did get some stuff done today. I'm thinking with the temperatures as high as they are and no relief in sight that I
am going to work on some squares for another swap.

I did get my Kit Mitts swap over at 'mania done and in the mail and once my partner receives it I will post pics.

Well until next time--

Enjoy and have a blessed day!!

Another Day--Not too much going on...

Here is a purse that I made. It was made with Lion Brand thick and Quick and Lion Brand suade. The pattern is listed on their website under free patterns. I did change the handles and made it more my style. I love the style of this purse and a girl can never have too many purses.

Today was a pretty good day. Still hot!! My mom took my kids and I out to dinner. I really enjoyed it.

The fur babies contest over at CrochetMania is finally off to a good start. Big thanks to Kathy for emailing all members. That email kicked started the contest. There are alot very cute fur babies.

The kicker of the day was that I have had a tooth bothering me for awhile now. I finally went to the dentist and he informed me that I am going to have to have a root canel. Now just the sound of that has me running for the hills but I am to the point that I have to do something so next week I am having it done. Oh well--it has to be better than this.

Til next time....
Enjoy and have a blessed day

Can you say hot?

I will start this post by showing the afghan that I made for my mother in law. Well, I didn't really make it for her but she fell in love with it so I gave it to her. She really is a very sweet lady.

Back to the topic of this entry. I knew it was hot here in Missouri but last night the weatherman confirmed it. He said that we were the hottest spot in the country. Yes I said country. Today is no better. It was 86 degrees at 8 am on my way to work. I was just outside and it is way over 100 degrees with the heat index hovering around 120 degrees. Stick a fork in me---I'm done.

I am planning of going home tonight (dinner is already in the crockpot) and doing a whole lot of nothing. Hopefully crocheting. This last week was so hectic that not alot got done. So it's time to kick it in gear.

Here's to hoping that you stay cool.

Enjoy and have a blessed day!

Sunday

Here is a pic of a chocolate brown afghan that I made for our front room. It blends in quite a bit but it looks real nice with my furniture.

Have you ever had one of those days where nothing goes right? Well today would have been one of those days. I think I should have just stayed in bed. I'm sure it's just that I
am cranky and it's so dang hot (heat index of 120 degrees). But I swear just about everyone set me off or vice versa.

Well--let's see. What did I accomplish today? Cleaning-no, laundry-no, crocheting-not yet. I guess I did make it to the grocery store but that even took help from hubby to do.

Oh well. Tomorrow is another day........and hopefully better.

Enjoy and have a blessed day!!

Saturday

Here is a beach bag that I made in a crochet along over at Crochet Happy. I ended up giving it to my friend's daughter that babysits for me. She fell in love with it.

Well today my best friend and I went for a girls afternoon out. We went to our favorite little town and went through the antique stores and novelty shops. We ate lunch at the towns cafe. Oh and by the way did I mention that it was 101 degrees today.

I came home and hubby had disappeared. I fell asleep waiting for him to find his was home. We are kid free tonight so we went to dinner, and to have coffee with some of our friends. Forgot what it was like to be kid free for the night.

Didn't crochet at all today. Maybe tomorrow. It's going to be 105 degrees. YAY!! I'm staying inside.

Enjoy and have a blessed day!!

Crochet...crochet...

Here is another project that I made earlier this summer. It is a halter top for my 4 year old daughter. I didn't use a pattern --just winged it.

Well.....Yesterday turned out to be pretty productive. I changed my mind on my purse swap pattern. I am still going to make the Drew-string summer purse but I'm going to be keeping it. I have my kitchen swap completed and ready to mail tomorrow. I have to line the purse I ended up making and mail in the morning. I also made her a second purse for her daughter and that will be going as well. I made 6 more snowflakes for my afghan--so progress is going pretty well on this one too.

Now I am hunting for 12" squares to make for my swap but I still have plenty of time to find and make these.

My plans for the weekend are to stay in the house and stay cool. They are forecasting temps of 100 with the heat index near 120. That's hot enough to make me stay in.

My son is going camping with my mom this weekend and my daughter is spending the weekend with my husband's parents. Mixed emotions here. Now normally no big deal but I haven't really seen my kids this week. They haven't been getting home at night until well after 9pm (from VBS). I guess I will deal. Hubby is taking me out to dinner and then to a movie. The last time he took me to a movie was before our daughter was born. She is now 4. Guess it's time.

Enjoy and have a blessed day!!

Busy Week

This is a pic of a spiral throw that I made for my camper. It was very easy to make and I love the self striping yarn.

Whew...Finally found some time to crochet last night. Hasn't been easy between work, swimming lessons for the kids and VBS. I have the second panel done for my snowflake afghan. I am trying to work in the ends and attach the panels as I go. In my mind, this makes it more manageable. I also went yesterday and picked up the yarn for my niece's Christmas present and my in-laws Christmas throw. And yes I know it's only July.

My goal for today is to finish up the Kit Mitts swap for 'mania and start on my summer purse swap. I am going to do the Summer Drew-string purse for my partner. I am going to experiment with some different yarns. I just hope I do the pattern justice.

On another new front---I signed up for Holidays in July over at the 'ville and I was already gifted three of Drew's patterns. YAY!! I received Drew-string purses, The Flying Afghan (which I just bought for myself last month..LOL), and Dawn. I can't wait to start these.

Well---better get to crocheting.

I am posting some of my finished projects over the next few posts.

Enjoy and have a blessed day!!

Welcome!!

Welcome to my blog.
